Grok says: Feeding The Data Beast — Randumb Thoughts 372 with Darren O’Neill
A Flock camera tags a black Dodge Durango three miles from a deadly I-4 crash. Seven months later, Florida Highway Patrol puts 23-year-old Lindsay Brooke Isaacs in jail for 13 days — including a week in solitary — on eight felonies she didn’t commit. Wrong color. Wrong plate. No damage. A 911 caller said maroon. Paint on the wreck said maroon. The cameras just said “Durango nearby,” and that was enough. Charges vanish when the actual maroon Durango finally shows up. She doesn’t blame Flock. Darren does blame the humans who treated a license-plate hit like a confession — and asks the “nothing to hide” crowd how safe they feel now.
From there, the show follows the data beast wherever it feeds: cops using ALPRs to stalk exes, an influencer horrified that autocomplete doxed her kid after she posted the kid, AI agents that can watch your accounts and call a restaurant in Portuguese, LG TVs taking screenshots and listening through the remote, and grocery carts with screens that may be shopping you harder than you’re shopping them. AI isn’t the villain. Lazy faith in the feed is. If you still think extra cameras only catch the other guy, this episode is the receipt.
